Hello, my friend; I sit here today a bit older and wiser than a year before, I dare say! Why do we sit and ponder and look within like searching through a rubbish bin: an old cork, a shiny button and a long, blue ribbon? I lay them out on the floor. The cork is rough, old, and pretty useless now. It smells of aged red wine, musty, foosty it is stuck in an old man's grey beard that travels down to the ground into the soil, passing the squiggly blind. They sniff the air, communicate with one another and say

"What's over here? Something new! Will we Smoother it?" one worm replied, "No! Another bellowed, "Let it go Free! I am bored, tired and old! This is no place to be. Let the thing go free! Who knows where it will go? Look over there, a pair of Wings!" replied the Big worm, " Tie them on and think good thoughts and go beyond! Don't come back here! It's for the blind and the old who cannot see the forest for the trees! They do not smile and do not care; they dig in misery and despair- searching for the long, blue ribbon and a shiny button. If they found the ribbon, they would only tie it tight until the lights finally faded. Stupid Blind worms- if only they could see! So put on these wings and fly away. Goodbye, my child!" said, The giant worm. The ground rumbled open. An Earthquake? Loose earth is falling everywhere. A large, yellow beak scooped me up! Up, up, it flew. "Hello Dear, I've been looking for you! Did you know it has been over 40 years- time on earth is short, you know! But finally, I've found you.

Here, I will put you on this fence. It will be wobbly at first, but you have good balance. Farewell, my friend," replied the Blackbird.

"Thank you!" I hollered. The Blackbird winked, and off it flew.

A shiny button and a long, blue ribbon. How can I climb down, for I do not want to sit on the fence! Exposed to the elements of the unknown!

I place the shiny button in my pocket, and I hold the long, blue ribbon above my head, arms stretched out. I jump, and a gust of wind carries me down. I land with one foot, then the other. I Gather the long, blue ribbon, place it in my pocket and head towards home. "Mummy, where have you been?" replied two little voices. " Oh, far away to a place unknown, but I'm back now! What would you like to do today?" Gather the long, blue ribbon, place it in my pocket and head towards home. "Mummy, where have you been?" replied two little voices. " Oh, far away to a place unknown, but I'm back now! What would you like to do today?"
